Airport benchmarking depends on airport performance and efficiency indicators which are important issues for business and operational management, regulatory bodies, airlines and passengers too. There are several sets of indicators to evaluate airports performance and efficiency as well as several techniques to benchmark such infrastructures. The aim of this work is to provide all stakeholders with a more user-friendly tool to benchmark airports. Thus using MacBeth, a Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis tool, we evaluate firstly the performance of Portuguese airports and secondly the efficiency of a set of worldwide ones. The results show that this new approach is very promising when compared with those traditionally in use and presented in some works on airports benchmarking.
