Labfit, a research and development company headquartered at UBIMedical , launched the InovEP project yesterday, October 2. This research project is the result of a partnership with the University of Beira Interior (UBI) and the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB). Its objective is the laboratory characterization of plant extracts in the perspective of their conversion into pharmaceutical ingredients.
Recognizing the increasing interest of the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry in the natural ingredients, in response to a clear market trend, InovEP will allow the characterization of these endogenous resources, with respect to their safety and applicability, according to methodologies recognized by the Regulatory Entities. These ingredients can thus become value-added products for the international market.
The project, which was evaluated by the National Innovation Agency and financed by the Center 2020 Program, will run until 2021 and aims to contribute to the economic growth of the Central Region.
